The paediatric department at Taranaki Base Hospital has written the below guidelines for referrals when there are concerns with children's development.
The guidance will help make sure the correct children are referred to the hospital and also highlights other services or routes for referrals if there are concerns.
The guidance includes useful links to further resources for those interested. It will hopefully help reduce any declines and get the child seen by the correct person quickly.
Taranaki Base Hospital's aim to separate the referral, so a new option for developmental paediatrics will be made available on eReferrals.
In the meantime it's suggested the first referral tab in the ‘Re’ space write 'developmental paediatrics'. This may save a new option being required.
