Practice support & development
Te tautoko me te whakawhanake i ngā ratonga hauora
Practical support to help general practices strengthen services, support their teams, improve care and keep moving forward.
Practical support for general practice
General practice is under pressure, and no two practices are exactly the same. Our role is to work alongside practices across our network with practical support that reflects their context, priorities and communities.
We support practices with a mix of relationship-based guidance, improvement support, tools, training and connections across the wider health system. That can include help with day-to-day challenges, longer-term planning, quality improvement, workforce development and support, and strengthening equitable access and outcomes.

Practice support & development
Pinnacle teams support practices in many different ways behind the scenes. Our practice support and development managers are key point of connection for practices across the network.
They take the time to understand each practice’s pressures, opportunities and local context, and work alongside teams in practical ways to support sustainable, high-quality care.
Your dedicated point of contact with a support team in the background
A key relationship person who gets to know your practice, understands your context, and helps connect you with the right support.
Practical support for change and improvement
Support with planning, navigating challenges, improvement work, and connecting into programmes or services where needed.
Responsive, relationship-based support
Support that reflects the realities of your practice, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

“As a new nurse practitioner-led kaupapa Māori practice in Rotorua, the support from Pinnacle has been invaluable to our journey. There is a strong alignment with kaupapa Māori values, with a genuine commitment to whānau-centred care, equity, manaakitanga, and whakawhanaungatanga. This ongoing engagement has meant we feel heard, supported, and never alone in this journey. We feel genuinely backed by Pinnacle and couldn’t be happier with our decision to partner with them.”

More about how we help
Practical support to help practices strengthen services, support teams, and improve care
Practice systems support
Our practice systems support team provides fast and effective virtual support for network practices. They are a first point of contact for general practice queries, support with implementing new initiatives, and basic troubleshooting for indici and MedTech PMS issues.
As subject matter experts in a range of general practice business processes and tools, they help practices resolve issues, get the right guidance and keep things moving.

Health Care Home
Health Care Home is a model of general practice designed to make care more accessible, more proactive and more sustainable.
It supports practices to work in ways that better meet the needs of their communities and whānau. This can include improving access to care, strengthening routine and preventative care, making better use of the wider practice team, and building systems that help people get the right care in the right way.
At its heart, Health Care Home is about helping general practice work well for both patients and practice teams. It supports more planned care for people with more complex needs, while also helping practices create ways of working that are more efficient and sustainable over time. Pinnacle has supported the Health Care Home model for many years as part of our wider work to strengthen and sustain general practice across our network.
Quality improvement approach
Quality improvement is a practical and ongoing part of stronger general practice.
Through our Quality Improvement Programme, we work alongside practices to support improvement that is meaningful, achievable and relevant to their patients and communities.
That includes helping practices identify priorities, use data well, test and measure change, strengthen systems, and build improvement capability over time. Our approach is focused on practical improvement that can be embedded in day-to-day practice, with an emphasis on equity, learning and better outcomes.
Working alongside practices
The support we provide will not look exactly the same in every practice, because practices are different.
What matters is that the support is practical, responsive and grounded in real need. We work alongside practices to help strengthen primary care now, while supporting sustainable improvement over time.
