Diabetes in pregnancy - insulin initiation

Overview

This programme is available for women with diabetes in pregnancy who need to start insulin and have been referred by the diabetes in pregnancy team.  
 
The initial education of meter use, diet and subsequent assessment of blood glucose resulting in a decision to start insulin will be done by the diabetes in pregnancy team.  
 
A script and insulin starter pack will be provided to the patient by the diabetes in pregnancy team.  

This service is part of the Advanced Primary Options programme.
