Māori clinicians group

Pinnacle would like to provide a platform for Māori clinicians to help inform and implement our Māori health strategy.

We are looking to draw together Māori clinicians from across the network including nurses, doctors, pharmacists, medical care assistants, health improvement practitioners, health coaches, health care workers, kaiawhina – if you are in a clinical role we want to hear your voice.

The first meeting was held in October, Māori clinicians discussed hauora Māori in the Midlands region and He Ara Whakamua (Pinnacle’s Māori Health Strategy). Māori clinicians expressed the importance of having Māori in governance roles on the Pinnacle Board, the right Māori resources and approach to health care and ensuring that non-Māori clinicians have cultural competency to treat Māori patients.

The Pae ora Health Futures Bill and the establishment of the Māori Health Authority will be highly advantageous to assist Pinnacle to build on our programmes to improve hauora Māori.

We would like to invite Māori clinicians to join our group to discuss important issues and solutions in regards to hauora Māori.

The next zoom hui is on Tuesday 7, December 6.30-8pm.
