PSAAP negotiations – Who represents you at the table?

Pinnacle provides a free service for member practices, representing contracted providers in PSAAP negotiations.

Pinnacle provides a free service for member practices, representing contracted providers in PSAAP negotiations.

We offer:

  • email and online updates, sharing meeting information, discussion points, and ensuring provider voices are heard
  • a rapid-response WhatsApp group for gathering real-time input and feedback
  • experienced negotiators who represent contracted providers independently of PHO views.

Our current PSAAP contracted provider representative is Dr Jo Scott-Jones, and several member practices already use Pinnacle’s service.

How contracted provider representation works

The annual review of general practice and PHO funding occurs through updates to the PHO Services Agreement (PHOSA). Any changes from this process flow into the back-to-back contracts Pinnacle holds with its member practices (our contracted providers).

Pinnacle, as a PHO, is represented in national negotiations through its GPNZ membership.

Individual practices must also choose who represents them as a contracted provider in these negotiations — either:

  • appoint their own contracted provider representative, or
  • represent themselves.

What Pinnacle provides

Dr Jo Scott-Jones stays connected with contracted provider practices through email, WhatsApp, and online meetings as needed, to ensure practice voices are clearly heard and accurately represented. Through this approach, Pinnacle practices have benefited from having a respected and influential voice involved in:

  • capitation reweighting work
  • rural funding reviews
  • the PHOSA data governance group overseeing contingent capitation data use and collection.

With two strong advocates at the table, Justin Butcher and Dr Jo Scott-Jones, Pinnacle has:

  • been represented throughout all PSAAP processes
  • served on the PSAAP small negotiation team
  • spoken on behalf of our contracted provider cohort
  • contributed to detailed proposals for major funding changes
  • strongly advocated for fair and equitable funding uplifts for general practice.
