Assisting whānau with diabetes to apply for the Disability Allowance

The Aotearoa Diabetes Collective has created a useful guide with templates for letters to support applications for CGM and empagliflozin (for those already prescribed a GLP1ra) for people living with type 2 diabetes.

Those who have attended the Advanced Diabetes Management Course will be familiar with the idea of applying to WINZ for additional diabetes costs for whānau who are eligible.

While Pharmac is still in consultation regarding the funding of CGM for people living with type 1 diabetes, there will not be funding for those living with type 2.

Contact the diabetes lead in your region if you have further pātai (questions) or would like to set up LibreLink in your practice to be able to access patient data from the sensors.
