Abnormal uterine bleeding

All practices in the Taranaki region can claim for this service, provided they have suitably trained staff able to perform the required procedures. 

This programme is also funded for patients not enrolled in your practice, who may be referred to you via another service/practice. In these cases, you can only invoice for this service and no other off set can be claimed.

If you are not able to provide any of these procedures for your patients, this care can be provided by another practice in your area. This can be arranged by direct contact between you and the other practice. The practice performing the procedure will invoice Pinnacle directly and there will still be no cost to the patient.

Patients who present with abnormal uterine bleeding and would benefit from further investigation and/or treatment.

• Patients not domiciled in the Taranaki district.
• Patients not eligible to receive New Zealand publicly funded health services.

Please make your claim via Primary Options, select Abnormal Uterine Bleeding and then attach the appropriate invoice(s).

This consultation can only be claimed as a review following intervention or investigations of abnormal uterine bleeding.

Please note that you cannot claim a follow up consultation for the same day you claim for a biopsy and/or Mirena insertion. A sent message with no documented response does not meet the definition of a consultation.

Iron infusions are funded via a separate claiming pathway.

A funded pelvic ultrasound can be requested under this pathway using your usual POAC process - please indicate on the referral that this is funded under the Abnormal Uterine Bleeding pathway.

Pipelle biopsy education:                                                                                        $500.00

One off payment for any clinical member of staff who attends pre approved education. 

Funded training will made available in line with requests from practice staff. Please liaise with Gina Kaye at Pinnacle to assist us in planning appropriate training.Priority will be given to those who are already inserting IUCDs.

Note: Should you need support in pipelle biopsy training, the clinicians listed here are available to deliver this and LARC training. As this training is not funded through Pinnacle, practices may choose to self-fund if this option suits the need.

Practices are required to provide sufficiently detailed consultation notes to determine appropriate use of funding.

It has been recommended that in addition to a good assessment and history, the eligibility criteria are clearly stated in the clinical notes.

There is no charge to the patient for this service.
