Measles chapter update: Te Whatu Ora Communicable Disease Control Manual

Te Whatu Ora has updated the Measles chapter in the Communicable Disease Control (CD) Manual.

Key updates

  • Laboratory testing: Clarification that measles IgG serology can be added to an existing blood sample.

  • Case definition: High index of suspicion now includes partially vaccinated individuals or those with unknown immunity.

  • New resource on presumed immunity: International guidance (PDF) for assessing immunity in people born or living overseas before 1969, with links added across relevant measles guidance pages and charts.

  • Improved navigation: New links at the top of the chapter help non-public health readers find more appropriate measles information.
