Taranaki Awanui HPV results delay

If you receive a result that shows HG cytology, please refer to colposcopy. Do not wait for HPV results.  National Cervical Screening Programme update Awanui identified a technical issue with their HPV testing system and paused all outgoing messages while working to resolve it. What this means HPV test results have not been sent to referrers or the NCSP Register since March 31 For samples requiring cotesting with cytology as well as HPV, all high-grade cytology results have been released without the HPV result so that referrals to colposcopy can proceed. When HPV results are available Awanui will release the report again with both results in a combined report.  Action If you receive a result that shows HG cytology, please refer to colposcopy. Do not wait for HPV results.  Processing delayed results The issue has been resolved, and testing has resumed. Samples are being processed in the order they were received – except for LBC samples which are being prioritised. It is anticipated it will take 2-3 weeks to clear the backlog and be up to date.
