Capitation reweighting: Te Whatu Ora post-webinar information
The recent Te Whatu Ora webinar on capitation reweighting outlined progress toward an updated capitation formula that better reflects the real needs of communities.
In addition to age and sex, the future formula will include broader factors such as deprivation, rurality, and multimorbidity, supporting fairer and more sustainable funding for practices.
The post-webinar information pack includes:
- presentation slides
- a Q&A summary covering key questions and themes raised
- a recording of the webinar.
Te Whatu Ora is continuing detailed modelling and will share practice-level impact information as soon as it becomes available, ahead of the new model’s introduction. The final approach will be subject to PSAAP negotiations. Mitigation options are also being developed for practices that may be negatively affected.
